The Parking Lot - Chapter 6

We just couldn’t believe that this was happening to us.  Bawling, we walked down the steps to the parking lot and our car which was not to far away.  We walked past a couple ladies, trying to hide our tears just a little bit so they wouldn’t bother us.

Well, here is where the Lord intervened wanted us to know that he had not forgotten us.  He knew that we needed someone to remind us that he was still with us and that he had not forgotten us.  As we were nearing the car, one of the ladies that had walked past us turned around and walked towards us.  I can’t specifically remember how she asked, but she wanted to find out what was wrong and why we were crying.

The least thing that you want to do in a circumstance like this is to talk with someone else especially a stranger.  We didn’t want to really talk.  But, she asked.  So I proceeded to tell her that we had just found out that our baby had a condition called anencephaly and that she would not live.  She was very concerned about us wanted to make sure that we had someone to support and comfort us.  She knew that we shouldn’t be alone in circumstances like this.  I told her that we both had parents to support us along with our church.  Then she proceeded to do something that I will always remember for the rest of my life. She, a total stranger, asked us if she could pray with us.  We said that would be fine and she then proceeded to ask the Lord to comfort us and to take care of us.

We talked with her for several minutes and told her where we were from and that we did have a church in the Eau Claire area that would help us in our situation. In the course of the conversation, we found out that she was from Baroda which is a town 15 minutes away from us.
She invited us to come to her church in Baroda-Stevensville. We said that we had a wonderful church and knew that they would help us. But we really appreciated her having prayer with us. Can you imagine how wonderful she felt for the rest of the week.  She had a direct calling from God, she obeyed and had been directly used by him.

Lessons Learned

  • If your child has been diagnosed with anencephaly, please take heart.  God already has someone on their way to minister to you. Like the lady in the story that God had placed in that exact time and parking lot. He will pour out his mercy and comfort through someone headed your way.
  • If you know someone who is going through their own anencephalic story, please if you feel impressed to do something for them.  Do it!  You might only have a passing minute or two in which to come to their aid.
  • Bible Promise:But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. James 3:17
